THE TOOLIGUIDE DESK
Use and Inclusion Boundaries
Account-owner authorization, content rights and evidence come before a tool recommendation.
Updated
Start with a permitted task
Use tools for accounts you own or manage with the account owner’s permission, and for content you have the right to access and use. Prefer Instagram’s first-party account insights, account-data tools and account-owner-provided records when they answer the question. An account being public does not grant authorization to monitor its owner.
Outside our recommendation scope
We do not recommend services or instructions for secretly monitoring a partner, employee or other person; obtaining private or Close Friends content without permission; bypassing access controls; collecting credentials; or downloading and reusing material without the necessary rights. “Anonymous” and “no login” are vendor access claims, not evidence of consent, security or permission.
Saving and exporting content
Download only your own material or content you have permission to save. Public viewing does not transfer copyright or permit redistribution. Do not collect another person’s profile or activity to build an unauthorized monitoring record, even if a vendor offers an export button.
Suggesting a tool or reporting a concern
A submission should explain the permitted task, data source, access requirements, authorization method and content rights. We do not accept covert-surveillance claims or private-account unlockers as selling points. Report a concern with a public source; do not send personal activity records. See the editorial policy for commercial and evidence standards.
